Since its inception in the year 1991, Linux has gone places. From the cold plains of Russia to the hot tropical plains of India, Linux has earned itself an undisputable reputation. Linux is used on variety of platforms and domains right from the embedded systems to the supercomputers. Utilization of Linux on home and commercial desktops has been increasing ever since. According to a report, even the Russian Military is now utilizing Linux based applications. China uses Linux. Portugal, Germany and France are all following the suite. Brazil has been supporting Linux ever since it came into being; even the Indian state of Kerala has made it mandatory for every state high school to use Linux on their desktops!
Linus Torvalds still directs the development of Linux kernel. We have seen various Linux platforms like Ubuntu, Fedora etc. With every interested programmer contributing to the open source Linux kernel, the future looks bright!
All this justifies only one thing; Linux is here to stay!
